How to Store a Suit

A respectable selection of ties is an investment and we will have to take seriously. Your ties occupy a central part of your closet, and should deserve precision treatment befitting their significance. If you want your ties to look like they have been tied for the first time, then proper tie storage and care is a must. As a matter of fact, caring for your ties does not necessarily mean to be expensive or tedious. Most often, simply knowing how to store your ties and how to remove wrinkles can greatly extend the life of your ties.

To begin with, your ties need delicate care. Whether taking on or putting off a tie, you should do the task with the utmost care. Ties are fairly fragile. Pulling too hard can result in stretched fabric and a misshapen appearance. A proper treatment can make your ties last longer.

Secondly, do not wash your ties. As most ties will shrink unevenly when washed in water due to different shrink rates of the various materials inside of the tie, you are better off steaming your ties instead of ironing your tie as hard ironing will flatten the body and cause the material to shine. Hanging your tie in the bathroom or holding it over a boiling pot of water on the stove is easy ways to steam wrinkles out of your tie. If it is necessary to iron the tie, it is advisable to cover it with a cotton cloth first and make sure not let the iron touch the tie directly.

Thirdly, give your ties time to rest. No matter how much you like a tie, you can not wear the same tie twice in a row as ties need time to return to its normal shape and wearing a tie for too many days can deepen the wrinkles and creases, making it more difficult to remove them. The most important thing is that after each time you wear it, you should un-tie you tie as leaving it knotted can damage the tie and cause permanent wrinkles. Do not want to save some extra minutes each morning and you will murder your ties.

The best way to store your ties is by hanging them, as it helps take out some of the wrinkles. Yet be aware, knit ties can be stretched when hung, so you should gently roll them up and store them in a drawer. You can hang your ties over a tie-rack or a coat hanger. When using a hanger, you should stay away from skinny wire hangers as they may cause a crease in the tie. Wooden hangers and plastic hangers are good choice. You can also hang ties up on a rack designed for that purpose. Especially if you are a daily tie wearer and have a large collection of neckties, then you are better off using several tie racks and organizing your ties in order so that you can quickly find the perfect tie for each day.
