Mens Narrow Braces

Size Means Nothing To God
The road was very narrow leading to the small wood-framed house with red shutters and red-painted brick porch columns. It had taken her parents years to pay for the little shanty in which she was born. Finances and jobs were lacking but they were rich in love being always obedient to God for everything He had given to them.
Satan had tried to take her life many times and evil powers of darkness proclaimed they would destroy her and never allow her to accomplish her mission. While Sybil slept one night the demons filled the bedroom with a deadly virus. They hoped by just breathing this virus Sybil would become sick and die. During the night her lungs were filled and her small body invaded by this devilish enemy. Demons laughed as they sat outside waiting for the enemy to do its job. They stamped their feet and clapped their hands rejoicing over their perceived victory. Their vision was that the beautiful golden locks of hair would be lying somewhere in a grave very soon.
Before daybreak the angels discovered there was something terribly wrong with Sybil. Her brow was fevered and her body stricken with virus. Having been deceived, they quickly drew their swords and gathered together forming a fiery wall around the house. They were furious and began to call warrior angels to do war with the demons of darkness. The virus spread rapidly consuming Sybil’s body. It came to be that Sybil could no longer walk and was paralyzed from her waist to her toes. Doctors worked feverishly to counter the attack with medicines and therapy. The curious evil imps were relentless and plotted to send even more attacks to hasten the demise of this special child guarded by angels.
Weeks turned into months and Sybil grew weaker. Her legs forgot how to walk and special braces were made to go inside boots to give support to her lower body. Whirlpools of healing waters massaged her daily trying to keep the muscles from atrophy. Sybil had to be carried everywhere and people stared at the beautiful little girl with pity.
Now Sybil was blessed with a very wise grandmother who loved her dearly. She moved into her house and each day she would spread a soft blanket on the floor. She would lie Sybil down and begin to tell her stories. While Sybil listened to her favorite stories her grandmother exercised her legs. She pretended that Sybil was pedaling a bicycle and moved her legs up and down repeatedly. Each day the muscles grew a little stronger. Each day the smile on Sybil’s face grew with great hope. The angels continued to war against the evil powers of darkness and they too became stronger soon defeating the enemy with their fiery swords.
The evil powers of darkness cried and screamed in anger. Who was this child that angels would fight over? Who was this little girl that doctors made such a fuss over? Why had all of the prayers of the mother been answered? What was this little girl’s mission? It must have been given to her by God or the angels would not be standing guard over her. They had listened for answers but God wasn’t about to tell the wicked fallen creatures of darkness. The dark principalities and evil powers cringed in fear and closed their ears so they could not hear the songs of joy. Demons trembled and devils bellowed forth their ghoulish sounds of terror. God had given Sybil a special gift and they could feel its mighty power. They quickly set about to tie up the angels who guarded the chosen one and called all of the most powerful demons.
“Go and destroy this child for she is spreading love. Can’t you see we cannot allow love to spread over this world. Her words are powerful and she is made in the image of God. We must kill her before she accomplishes her mission here!” A ghoulish devil ranted. ”We will send great pain and suffering. She will be in such great pain she will stop proclaiming Jesus!” He continued.
Sybil was the smallest in her class and others were jealous of her petite frame and childhood beauty. She was always the teachers pet simply because she loved each one as she did her mother. Being promoted to the next grade was NOT something she looked forward to because she would be leaving behind a beloved teacher. Sybil wanted to be loved by everyone and she succeeded many times over. Beauty was not something she longed for but instead always had a desire to be a writer. As she grew older many things in her life changed but her love for writing remained as strong as her faith in Jesus Christ, her keeper. It would be this man that would set the course of Sybil’s life keeping His hand upon her for the rest of her life.
People came into her life, lingered and moved along always etching their love upon her gentle heart. Until one day seeking to write a book she happened upon an old man with white hair dressed in denim overalls. Mr. Ed Hamilton quickly became the grandfather Sybil had never had. Her own grandfather’s had both died before she was born. It was another good plan of the evil one to rob a child of the love a grandfather can give. Mr. Hamilton became a treasure chest full of gold nuggets of knowledge that would one day kick the devil right between the eyes.
Sybil had been told by all the towns folk that Mr. Hamilton was a leader of a group of men who were serving the Lord in a very different way from most in the small college town. They gathered together each week to cast out demons from people who were oppressed or possessed.
The library was filled with old books, a long wooden table with matching chairs and a goldfish pond with real goldfish. Each night before anything was done everyone could be heard praying and all was lifted high to God through His Son, Jesus Christ.
“You have never really lived until you have knelt with a group of elders and heard their voices calling upon The Most High God of Abraham. Chill bumps the size of rain drops would run up and down the spine when you were in that room. Those men knew how to call down the power of God against the forces of darkness. They were all Godly men devoted to the mission of setting those held captive by Satan free. Like the words in a child’s song, you can tell they are Christians by their love! I’ve never met any men more genuine. They gave all that they had and asked nothing in return.”
Sybil wanted to write a book about a real exorcism and these men could give her all the information she would need. Information would be wonderful but to be able to see a devil leave a person first hand would be unheard of in this Baptist bible-believing community. It seemed a mysterious curiosity began to unleash itself upon Sybil. When she asked if she could just sit in and watch she was given a sizeable number of ancient books to read. Once finished, she was only given another stack. There was a great deal of history about Satan, demons, principalities, powers, angels, devils and people possessed by demons. The books were rare and some so old they dated back to the Roman Catholic priest and actual cases of possession.
What wonderful information Sybil had been given and what a superb novel she would be able to write or would she? Months passed and Sybil’s mind was a sponge soaking up book after book of historical events from books now out of print. Finally she was ready to sit in and really see an exorcism first hand. This would be an opportunity to describe exactly what she saw and she couldn’t wait. With pen and paper in hand she visited the dusty library where these meeting took place.
“I was the only woman in a group of eight or ten elders. I believed God would do anything and casting out demons was just one of those things. To be able to write a spine-chilling novel about this would be nothing short of a miracle. Perhaps I would be famous one day or at least make money. After all isn’t that why most people write books?”
Week after week Sybil went to the meetings and it wasn’t long until she got a message; a message she would be surprised to hear.
“God spoke to me at one of the meetings and told me to forget about my story. He said he had greater things for me to do. He told me He was going to anoint my hands and to fill me with His power so I could cast out demons. Well casting out demons was a great thing for elders but I wasn’t too happy about this new job at all. I wanted to be a famous writer not an exorcist. People would think I’d taken leave of my senses!”
So it came to be that God’s words happened and Sybil was baptized with the power of the Holy Spirit. She stood face to face with Satan and his cohorts setting captives free from bondage. Word spread like wildfire around the small southern towns.
“I’m sure the elders all helped me tremendously but I know God introduced me to the works of an old preacher named Smith Wigglesworth as a powerful influence for me. Mr. Wigglesworth was used mightily by God to free people from Satan’s grip. I suppose He allowed me to see that when God is before you, there is nothing impossible. Actually our reason and purpose for being here is to do just the same things that Jesus did and more. Jesus raised the dead. How many people do you know who can say that they have done this? I believe many are like I was. They are more interested in making a name for themselves and financial gain than stepping out in faith to do what God still wants them to do. Think about it! What will happen to preacher John Doe if he were to command a dead person to live again and nothing happens? He would very well lose his church, and his income. Few people are willing to take that chance it appears. It was somewhat like I was when I asked God to fill me with the Baptism of the Holy Ghost. He did as He promised to do but how was I to explain it to my Baptist Mother? We had all been taught that speaking in tongues was of the devil. Now here was mama’s little girl speaking in tongues! I guess we shocked the shoes off Satan that night in the little Pentecostal Church!”
Sybil is a senior citizen now to her friends. She is a mother and grandmother to her family. She is still anointed of God to cast out demons, to heal the sick and to raise the dead. She is well known now worldwide as a writer, author and poet. She is not just a famous writer but a well-known in God’s kingdom as well. She is still laying up her treasures in heaven.
She is currently writing stories for small children to enjoy. “I’m NOT retired from casting out demons for they still call me by my name. Do they know you well enough to call you by your name?”
You can visit Sybil Shearin’s poetry web site and read poetry until your hearts content. You can read children’s stories to your children or grandchildren as well. You can recommend Sybil’s web sites to friends, teachers and neighbors. You can be sure that the battle between good and evil is still hot and Sybil has her share of battle scars. Where are your scars?
