Royal Ascot : ‘ A very British Affair’

‘Royal Ascot’ is a prestigious racecourse in British Racecourse history. There are few sporting venues that can match the rich heritage and history of Ascot Racecourse.

It is located in Berkshire county, about 50 minutes train journey from London. Ascot racecourse was inaugurated by Queen Anne in 1711. There have been many changes over the three centuries. However, the best thoroughbreds always run here.

The day at royal ascot is truly exciting. The programme for each day is complied in concise booklet. The programme is never been stronger then it is now with its owners, trainers, jockeys and of course horses competing from all over the world. It has detailed information of every horse. It also contains illustrated Race card, so one can easily follow how to read it. Not to mention, jockeys are also pictured with their profiles.

Royal ascot is a unique affair which lasts for five days during June every year. There are different types of tickets available. The Grandstand, Silver ring, and Royal Enclosure. Anyone can buy grandstand and silver stand tickets. To be able to be admitted in Royal Enclosure, one must have a sponsorship form which has to be signed by a sponsor who has been member of Royal enclosure and attending royal ascot as this capacity for consecutive four years.

Children between the ages of 10-16 years can attend the Royal Enclosure only on the Friday and Saturday providing they are accompanied by a Royal Enclosure badge-holder. Children’s badges are free of charge. Children under 10 years are not admitted to Royal Enclosure.

Apart from this, there is a facility at Ascot for 255 private boxes in the Grandstand, all with stunning views across the racecourse.
